My wife and I bought a sleep number bed at the Wisconsin State Fair in 2014. We know and accept the responsibility of reading contracts and it is our fault for not doing so before purchasing the bed.

However, the salesman and managers all told us we had 90 days to try out the bed. If we did not like it, we could either exchange it or return it. If we returned it, there would be a 200 dollar fee. Numerous times they all told us we could do this; return or exchange the bed within 90 days.

Again, our fault for not reading all the fine print. Well, two months into the bed, we decided to return it. We called sleep number and told them this. The man from sleep number said okay, we will schedule a time to pick up the mattresses.

I said, what do you mean the mattresses? He said they only take the mattresses back! Imagine my surprise! I said we were told that we could exchange or return the bed within 90 days.

Not just the mattresses! He quickly said sorry sir, it is in your contract! To say we were/are upset is an understatement! A 3,400 dollar mistake on our part!

We called their headquarters and got the same response; it is in our contract. We then called the manufacturer of the frame and were told that they cannot take the frame back, and do not know why sleep number has this policy. Needless to say, my wife and I are very upset with sleep number. They intentionally misled us.

Kept telling us the bed, the bed, the bed. Since when is a bed only a mattress? We know there is nothing we can do because we signed the contract. Our fault.

We hope this will help other people from making the same mistake we made. A frame, a mattress and a bed, according to sleep number are not the same thing. We are looking forward to seeing the sleep number people at the 2015 fair.

Also, I would like to say that at a cost of almost 8,000 dollars, it would be nice to include 6 protective coasters for under the bed to protect to carpet and hardwood floor, and to include the bindings to hold the two mattresses together.

In our opinion, sleep number is not a respectable company. Rather, a deceptive and self-serving company. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Again, read ALL fine print before signing anything. Sincerely, Rande and Christine Orsted.

Not a very smart couple, learn to read.

They should have known this. Why would you put out the money, thinking you are going to return it. Doesn't sound like this couple thought it through?

It is a special mattress, bed and frame. Not a regular bed!

How can they not take the frame back is way beyond me. What good is that frame it is made for a particular style of bed the Sleep number for example.

I agree a BED isn't pads or a mattress only.

I have my own complaint against Sleep number right now before the BBB, next I go to the Attorney General's Office and last but not least I will sue them when I end up falling out of this i10 double California King bed which cost us $10,000.00 by the time we bought the sheets and protective coverings.

I gave up everything for the next 10 years just so I can get my dream bed (it is a NIGHTMARE now) and I can't even sleep in with without the fear of crashing to the floor and breaking my bones.

I have been trying for 3 years now trying to get sleep number to do something besides replace the same pieces several times over with absolutely no results. I am tired of trying to get something productive done thru Sleep Number it is time to hit them where I hope it hurts.
