Air loss in Sleep Number beds is rare, but you may find yourself waking up with a softer mattress than what you expected or that you are sunken into your mattress. These issues can be identified by using one of two air loss troubleshooting methods: hose-swapping and capping. Before you try either of these methods, please do the following:
  1. Verify that the hoses have not become bent or kinked, which would prevent air flow to and from the mattress.
  2. Verify that the hoses are snugly connected
  3. Inspect both the male and female connectors for any damage. If you discover any damage, please contact us to request a replacement part.
  4. Make sure the rubber o-ring is in place on the male connector. After completing the appropriate troubleshooting method, please give us a call so we can resolve the issue you are experiencing.
Hose-Capping Method
For air loss on single air chamber beds (twin, full, and some queen size beds), or if you're experiencing air loss on both sides of your bed, watch the video on this page https://www.sleepnumber.com/support/categories/204141508-Fix-a-Problem/articles/235642288-Air-loss for detailed steps on the capping troubleshooting method.

Hose-Swapping Method

If you have a two-chamber mattress and are only experiencing air loss on one side, follow the steps for hose-swapping in the video on this page https://www.sleepnumber.com/support/categories/204141508-Fix-a-Problem/articles/235642288-Air-loss .

I TOO HAD TROUBLE WITH ONE SIDE OF A SPLIT KING, I PHONED EVERY NUMBER ANY ONE GAVE ME, BUT TO NO AVAIL, I WAS SOO UPSET, MY SON CAME OVER AND DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM, A LEAKY HOSE. MY BED IS 14 YEARS OLD, I HAD A PROBLEM ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, SOMEONE CAME OUT AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME $100.00 JUST FOR COMING, NOT EVEN FIXING THE PROBLEM. SO MY RECOMMENDATION IS NOT TO BUY A SEEP NUMBER, I LOVE IT WHEN IT HOLDS THE AIR, BUT IT IS A BUMMER WHEN IT DOSEN'T, AND YOU CAN'T FIND ANY ONE TO FIX IT.

According to the Sleep Number faq page, air loss is a continual loss firmness that happens every time you put air back in the mattress, usually after one sleep session.
Sporadic or gradual softening is usually caused by environmental factors that impact the air pressure in your mattress. If your mattress isn't consistently going flat overnight, Sleep Number recommends completing a 3 Night Sleep Test following the link sleepnumber.com/support/categories/204141508-Fix-a-Problem/articles/360024209494-3-Night-Sleep-Test to see if environmental factors are impacting the firmness of your mattress.
If you are experiencing actual air loss, troubleshooting helps the company identify if there is a problem with the air connections or a component part. Troubleshooting varies by hose connection location. Hose connections are either located on the side of your mattress or inside the mattress at the head of the bed.
Follow these steps to check the location of your hose connections.
  • Stand on the side of the mattress and lift.
  • Check to see if there is a hose connection on the underside.

If your mattress has air hose connections on the sides of your mattress please follow the link .sleepnumber.com/support/categories/204141508-Fix-a-Problem/articles/360015837314-My-Bed-Is-Losing-Air to check out the recommended troubleshooting steps;
If your mattress does not have air hose connections on the sides of your mattress please follow the link sleepnumber.com/support/categories/204141508-Fix-a-Problem/articles/360015837314-My-Bed-Is-Losing-Air to check out the recommended troubleshooting steps.
